Previously I wrote that I would, in early January 2017,
upload my past two years of collected real questions. Well, I have decided
to start doing that now but so far, I have only done this for Parts 2 & 3.
Those Part 2/3 topics that entered the test in May 2016
will continue to be used only until the last test in December 2016. Then they
will be retired for a while. (Sometimes, in some places, some of these
topics might continue
to be used in some tests in January, after which they will be retired.)
I stopped collecting the real questions at the last test
in August, 2016. That is, I have not collected the real questions that
entered the test in September 2016. The topics & questions that started in
September 2016 will continue after January 1, 2017 until the end of April
2017. This is all assuming the test follows the usual pattern, that is,
assuming the test managers don't suddenly start doings things differently.
Here is the Index page for the May, 2016 Part 2/3 topics
-
PARTS_2_and_3_INDEX_P9.htm. That page connects back to Index P8 &
Index P7.
I have stopped collecting and updating the current Speaking test
questions, but below is some information that will help you find lists of the
current questions. If you are Chinese, then you probably already know about
these sites. If you are not Chinese, you might have to use a translation service
such as Google translate at times. Of course, there are also other lists on the
internet.
The page at
http://ielts.xdf.cn/201510/10363749.htmlhas "model answers" (which I don't recommend using) but the
questions themselves are useful. The questions are written in English.
The following two links will take you to candidate
recollections of their test experiences.
http://ielts.xdf.cn/list_2695_1.htmlis the index page that will
take you to the list of the candidates' memories after the recent past
exams. If you are not Chinese, you will need to translate most of these
posts.
On the page, GENERAL_IELTS_LINKS.htm, I noticed that
several links to videos on other websites are no longer working. So I have
made the changes shown below.
The video of a Chinese girl, Liu Boya (or Boya Liu) doing the Speaking test in London
is no longer on the website that I previously linked to. I have
uploaded my copy of the video, which you can download. This is at
GENERAL_IELTS_LINKS.htm#10.3.
The links to the "Lester" videos and other "Passport to
English" videos have been changed. I have now linked to a Youtube page that
shows all those videos. That's at GENERAL_IELTS_LINKS.htm#passport

I have now stopped updating my information on the current
Speaking test topics and questions.
Below is part of what I wrote to those who were subscribers to my
"Updates" service.
------------------------------------------
Goodbye
Well, guys, it's
now time for me to retire from my work collecting Speaking test
questions. This is my last update.
I'm now going to take a
long break from IELTS.
Is this what IELTS students all over the world will do after I have gone?
After about 3 months, or in about December, I
might re-open my Skype
(or Wechat)
and Essay services for a limited number of students. But this is not
certain.
And
I might add some pages to my "IELTS WRITING" section on my website.
If you have not yet
read the page,
How to
Use This Website, you should read that first, before continuing.
Some Zip Files
For your convenience, I have collected all the archived real test
questions, along with other information related to Part 1 and Parts 2/3, and I
have put this information into zip files. These files contain the archived test
questions from 2006 to August, 2014.
The
candidate’s native accent might still be recognizable, but the accent of
a native English-speaker is more dominant than the native accent,
OR a mixture of native
English-speaking accents is more dominant than the native accent.
Previously,
that yellow highlighted part was not included in my personal judgment
of the Band score criteria.
Updates 53 was sent to subscribers today, and Updates 52
was sent a couple of days ago. They contain a
few more new topics and questions for the May-August testing period.
If you are a current subscriber but didn't receive
Updates 53,
please contact me.
If you are interested in becoming a subscriber, see
HERE.
Note that you can become a subscriber even if you don't have a PayPal
account, by using bank transfer.
Anyone who subscribes from now on will stay on the
mailing list until this service ends, after the last test in August.
For those of you who are not subscribers to the
Updates service
I'm sorry that I haven't added much free content to this
website for a long time. I'm afraid doing the Updates service is as much
work as I'm willing to do on IELTS at the moment.
When I stop doing the Updates service at the end of
August, I plan to do a very limited amount of online face-to-face
tutoring via Wechat or Skype (for the Speaking test), and a very limited
amount of my essay assessment service. These services are listed on the
front page of this website. I might also, from time to time, add to
the free content of the website.
That's about all the work I'll be willing to do on IELTS.

There has been a new
development concerning my updates service. I have decided to continue doing
it for only five more months, until the end of August. Then it will stop.
Below is a copy of an email I sent to my subscribers
yesterday, explaining this decision.
I have made a final decision on whether or not to continue doing my updates.
I will do them for another five months only. The last one will be the one after
the last test in August in China.
This situation will also be
clearly stated on my website.
Basically, the small income I get from doing these updates is not worth my time
and effort. This has been clear to me for a while.
To tell you the truth, the main reason why I have continued, and will continue
until August, is the fact that I enjoy the challenge of doing this work. No, I
don’t enjoy doing it the hard way. That’s really boring and time-consuming.
Instead, I have written a computer program to automate as much of the work as
possible. That is, the work of searching for and sorting the topics and
questions from the data available on the internet. It’s all done using a
collection of keywords. Computer programming is one of my hobbies although I am
far from an expert. (And, no, I am not willing to sell my program, not for your
price. I also wrote a program that solves Sudoku in less than one second.) The
challenge that keeps me interested is the challenge of seeing how much I can
improve my program to do the work as easily and as quickly as possible. Of
course, the actual writing of the updates that I send you is not so easily
automated, but is possible!
Everything will continue as normal until the last of my updated information
reports.
This decision of mine will not change the updates service
in any major way for the next five months. Anyone will still be able to
become a subscriber, even in the week before my last report. I will,
however, change the subscription price at the beginning of July to $10 since
new subscribers after that time will only be receiving a few Updates reports
from me. Don't forget, all subscribers also receive copies of the
topics and questions I have collected over the past two years since August
2014, when I stopped putting that information on this website for free.

Updates 43 was sent to subscribers yesterday, following
some major changes to the wording of two current Part 2 topics.
Although I have started the preparation for adding some
essays to this website, as I mentioned on March 16, that project will have
to wait a few more days because I have some other important things to do
first.

I added a new page about IELTS writing,
WRITING_BLOG_16.htm. That
page has a student's question sent to me, and my reply.
Over the next few days I intend to add to this website a
few more of the essays that students have sent to me over the years, along
with my assessment and advice. If you are interested, check back here every
few days to see what I have added.
