Describe a successful small business that you know about.

You should say:

what business (or, company) it is

what this business does (or, produces)

how you know about this business

and explain why you think this company is successful.

Notes

Some people are reporting this as "A Successful Small Company" but not all businesses have the legal status of being 'companies'.
"explain why you think this company is successful" can mean either, a) why you have this opinion or impression (i.e. that it is successful) about this business or, b) the reason for the success of this company. Why not talk about both?

1002. A House or Apartment You Would Like to Live In (Jan 2020)

Describe a house or apartment you would like to live in.

You should say:

where it is / Where it would be

what you would (like to) do there

who you would (like to) live there with

and explain why you would like to live in this place.

Notes

Some people are reporting this as, "A House or Apartment You Would Like to Live In, in the Future" but I doubt that the words, "in the future" are really used here. In English, "would like to +verb" is most often used to talk about a change to the present that you would like, even a change that is impossible. For example, "I would like to be younger" (= "I wish I were younger").

"Would like + verb" is also used to talk about something you hope will happen in the future, or something that you want to happen in the future.

For this topic, there's not much difference whether you talk about what you would like now or in the future.

You should say:

and explain why you think the animal was interesting.

Notes

Even if the card does not tell you to say when you saw it, you should include that.
This is similar to, if not the same as previous topics 894, 696, Topic 565 and Topic 134

Describe a change that you think would improve your local area. *

You should say:

what the change is ( or it would be )

how this change could be made

what problems are causing the need for this change

and explain how this change would improve your local area.

Notes

The word, "neighbourhood" might be used instead of "local area". It would also be acceptable to define "your local area" as your part of your country, such as, "the north-east of China", or your province or state. But this interpretation of "local area" is not as common as, "neighbourhood".
