1021.  Not the Full Truth (2)  (Jan 2020)    UNCONFIRMED TOPIC

Describe an occasion when you did not tell someone the (complete) truth.

               You should say:

 who this person was

 what you told them

 what you did not tell

and explain why you didn't tell the full truth.

Notes

  • This topic was reported several times in the Jan-May 2020 test period, but reported outside Mainland China. This might be exactly the same as Topic 926, which was used in Mainland China from Jan to May 2019.

Sometimes one or more topics that have recently bee retired in China are still reported as being used in other parts of the world, probably indicating that many topics are first used in China and later used elsewhere.

  • However, unlike Topic 926, this time no-one has reported it as, "Describe an occasion when someone did not tell you the (complete) truth", which most people were reporting last year. So it might be Version B from Topic 926 when the version used in 2019 was really Version A.

  • No-one has reported the difficult Part 3 questions under the topic of, "Crime and The Police" that were used in 2019, a further indication that this topic might be different in some ways to Topic 926.

  • Therefore, I am treating this as a new topic.

1025. An Enjoyable Meal  (May 2020)

Describe a meal (or dinner) that you especially enjoyed. *

               You should say:

 where it was (and when)

 what you ate

 who you were with

              .

Notes

  • The word, "dinner" might be used instead of "meal". "Dinner" is "the main meal of the day", usually the evening meal.

  • Notice that the wording does not necessarily mean that you enjoyed the food. A dinner, or any meal, is an event and it is possible to say you enjoyed it mainly because of the people you were with - you enjoyed their company.
