Notes About the Topic Changes in September, 2012
We started to see new Part 1 & Part 2/3 topics coming into the test on September 1.
Some of the current Part 2/3 topics will be retired but it is difficult to predict how many will be retired. This is because, at the last topic change time, i.e., the beginning of May, 35 new topics entered the test. This was unusually large – usually 15 to 20 new topics enter the test and 15to 20 topics leave the test at these change times.
The Part 2/3 topics that are going to be retired will almost certainly continue to be used in the test at different times in September and possibly even in the first one or two tests of October. Then they will be retired. So it is not easy to see or predict which topics will be retired.
Similarly, the Part 1 topics and questions from May-August will almost certainly continue to be used in the test at different times in September and possibly even in the first one or two tests of October. Then some of the Part 1 topics will be retired and the others will stay in the test until at least the end of December.
In other words, due to this uncertainty, the number of possible topics that you need to prepare for is much bigger now than usual. This situation will continue during the whole month of September and until mid-October. By mid-October, I and other people who collect the real questions and topics will have a good idea of what topics have been retired in both Part 1 and Part 2/3.
