Opportunity for Free Online Speaking Lessons!
My friend, Anastasia Andros, who owns the website http://englishlab.net, is offering to give some free online English lessons to students. She is doing this as part of her M.A. degree in Teaching English as a Second Language at Manchester University. Her specialization is Teaching English Online.
However, not all students are suitable. You should be IELTS Band 5.0 level and above and you should be mature and responsible. That is, she needs people who, in return for the free lessons, will give her useful feedback (opinions and suggestions) on the lessons. Even students who are up to Band 8 (such as some non-native English speaking teachers) are welcome. So even some of you non-native English teachers out there might learn something about teaching English from taking part in this project.
I also believe you will need to have on your computer the "Skype" software and the related hardware such as a video camera and microphone to do this.
It seems this free service will last for many weeks, over the Summer of 2011, which is enough time to make some real progress with your spoken English. So if you are serious about improving your spoken English, why not try it?
The front page of her website has a notice about this project. Go to http://englishlab.net.
Note: This project has been delayed for a few weeks. It was originally going to begin in May but it seems it will begin sometime between June and August.
Email her! She is looking for more students to take part in her project. Her email address is anastasia@englishlab.net. Write "ELN PROJECT" in the subject line. Tell her your age and a little background information about yourself.
