About Me
I was born in 1950 in Sydney, Australia and grew up there. I also lived in the USA for 3 years in the 1970s.
I studied Mining Engineering and worked in the mining industry (non-coal) for several years until I realized the lifestyle did not suit me, for example, living in mining towns in the desert. I then did a course in teaching English as a foreign language and decided to work in Asia.
I taught English as a Foreign Language for a total of 19 years in China (13 years on the mainland and 6 years in Taiwan), as well as 1.5 years in South Korea, 3 months in Japan and about a year in Australia.
I was an IELTS examiner based in Beijing for more than 2 years from 2001 to 2003.
